Kia ora,
after a long hiatus the aotearota website is back!

Update - May 2020...

I've written a brief blog about the Mazda Rotary forum scene of the early 2000's. I thought I might as well add it to the site. It can be read here or check out the new Blog section. I've also managed to make some changes to the menu which means the site is now much easier for me to update and added some additional content - expect to see more soon.

Update - December 2016...

I've decided to go with a change of direction. After 20 years of playing with rotaries I've decided to shift my allegiance to BMW. I'll leave the site up to browse for old timesake.

This is just a humble hobby website...

A once popular, but now dying concept thanks to social media. The hobby website was where people came to waste their evenings back in the day. Nothing to 'Like', no one to 'Follow', no status updates, no stupid comments, no pictures of peoples dinner and most importantly no ads. It's almost the "old-school of the internet" to do it this way, so here we are.

Why then?

I wanted a website to document not only my rotary car builds (both past & present), but also a place where I can show you some of the other car stuff I've been involved in. This is just a snapshot by the way, I have a heap more content to follow, but a lack of time to get it sorted and posted.

A lot of the stuff you'll see here is from my involvement in the U.K-based Exile Rotorsport club. Established in 2006 and catering for old school Mazda (piston and rotary) and conversions / hybrids, we had an awesome bunch of cats. We hosted regular meets in the City of London (the Green Man pub at Bank) and events across Europe, while still attending most of the larger UK mainland shows. A few of us regulars have moved back to Oz and N.Z now but the hardcore are still flying the flag.

Other content older viewers may recognise is from MREC (Mazda Rotary Enthusiasts Club of Wellington) circa 2000.

Enjoy the site, hopefully it's of some small amount of interest to folks. Like, rate and subscribe.

Disclaimer:

Most of the pics and video on this site have been taken using my humble 4.0 mega pixel Kodak EasyShare 'garage camera'. This deffo isn't going to be Speedhunters but hopefully good enough so you get the idea. I have no idea how the site will display on your mobile or tablet, but it looks ok on my desktop.

The site is kindly hosted by my friend Gayatri so big thanks to her, and thanks to the NZ domain registrar for only charging a dollar a year for 10 years for the .maori domain. Thanks to Tom@Lwis for the drop-down menu, which I have modified a little from his "NVIDIA" template. The rest of the site is written in HTML as you can probably tell by the clunky look. Thanks to everyone who has appeared.
